tripNETer Road Trip Music

31 May

In our Road Trip through the Green Spain, we spent many ‘lost hours’ driving from one landscape to another. We have found that for us there are some basic elements to survive the boredom that we want to share with you:

1) Bring with you lots of drinks. Water is the perfect choice to be hydrated, but I do prefer fruit juices (Peach specially, my favourite).

Bilbao & Tapas in our tripNETer Road Trip

28 May

We are in Bilbao!

And we have to admit that we fell completely in love!!

This amazing city of the Basque Country didn’t let us even breath: There’s so many things to do!.

Walking through El Casco Viejo is a must! Don’t forget to climb the never-ending stairs from Plaza Unamuno to Parque Etxebarria for those breathtaking views.

It is also a must, to walk along the river or ‘La Ría’. In the last 10 years, Bilbao has suffered an intense renovation, and the ‘recovery’ of the river was one of the main goals. Our mark: First class with honors.

Down the river finally you run into the symbol of the green spain capital: Guggenheim Museum.

tripNETer Road Trip stops in Santander

23 May

We were supossed to keep driving all along the inland for a few more days, but we we’re already missing the smell of the sea. And what a better sea than the fierce intense blue see of the north of Spain. So, we turned right in the next way out and drove direction Santander, the northern seaside city of Spain.

We left our car in the city center to give our eyes the chance to admire the majesty of the noble and royal buildings embraced by the Cantabrian Sea: like El Banco Vitalicio, Edificio de Correos, or Banco Mercantil.

Particularly remarkable is the imposing Royal Hotel, where we decided to drink tea and have some sweets in the Baroque Hall.

tripNETer Road Trip Movies

19 May

Road trips…one of Hollywood’s favourites. How many road trip movies have been filmed? Crossing America, most of them. Well, we are more European and we are crossing Spain. The landscapes we drive are sometimes just as beautiful as America’s famous Route 66. Sometimes more 🙂

With this in our mind, today we want to share with you our top 3 road trip movies:

1) Thelma & Louise.

tripNETer Road Trip: Part two, On The Road

16 May

On the second day of our trip, we decided to avoid highways and cross small towns and countryside.

In the gateway to the Pyrenees we came across stunning landscapes. After the maybe too crowded Cataluña, Aragón feels like empty. Between Petrol Stations there are kilometers of just nothing. Hidden towns look deserted.

We stopped at some lake to left our car rest.

tripNETer Road Trip: Part One, Barcelona

13 May

Luggage: check

Music: check

My 17-years-old VW: check

Internet on-the-go: tripNETer

Now everything’s ready for my tripNETer Road trip. Departure: Barcelona. It’s a nice spring evening (but it actually seems like summer) and I’m planing to drive all over the north part of Spain: BCN-Zaragoza-Bilbao-Santander and back.

A last view to my favourite spot in Barcelona, Mount Tibidabo.

That reminds me to that funny episode from Friends, where Ross tells the story about hiking in Mount “tibidaebo” (My friend Jaime from Sockaholic loves it).

Up in this mount there is an old-fashioned amusement park with beautiful views of Barcelona and also a church which can be seen from almost any point from Barcelona. You can go there by car (pretty nasty road), funicular or with the Tranvia Blau, which has been working since 1901.

So leaving Mount Tibidabo behind, i took the A-2 highway to Zaragoza…
