tripNETer Road Trip Movies

19 May

Road trips…one of Hollywood’s favourites. How many road trip movies have been filmed? Crossing America, most of them. Well, we are more European and we are crossing Spain. The landscapes we drive are sometimes just as beautiful as America’s famous Route 66. Sometimes more 🙂

With this in our mind, today we want to share with you our top 3 road trip movies:

1) Thelma & Louise.

There is no Road Trip Movie List without Thelma & Louise. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon try to run away from boredom and police in a ’66 Thunderbird. Directed by Ridley Scott in 1991, this movie is already a classic. The film’s landscapes are extremely beautiful and the final scene is just great.

2) Little Miss Sunshine

This time a whole (crazy) family is driving across the country for a beauty pageant final. Obviously not going to win it, but they remember us the strengh of a family, which can overcome its problems. And yes, they’ve got a few of them.

3) Transamerica

The amazing performance of Felicity Huffman drives us through America, telling us the story of a transsexual getting to know his son. Not a sweet story, but a strong one.

Stay tuned for next post!

    Thanks for the recommendation.!!
I am a huge fan of road trip and travelling generally.
It is not the destination….it is the journey…..

Can´t believe you picked Transamerica over “Y tu Mamá También” or “Children of Men” (both directed by Alfonso Cuarón)!

I have not watched ‘Y tu Mamá también’ yet!!! Shame on me!
I love ‘Children of Men’, but I would not consider it as a Road Movie. Dont u think?? 🙂

3 movies I’ve seen. Couldn’t agree more. Hmmm … lemme think … I can think of two great foreign films that are road movies, Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mama Tambien.
