When Valencia turns into a F1 Circuit.

21 Jun

Yesterday we were reading our friend’s Lucía awesome blog dedicated to the F1, and we discovered a vast F1-world which was unknown for us.

Even though we sometimes think F1 is just driving in circles for a long long long time, lots of people love it. Bets for F1 reach the astronomic levels of 650 Million Euros…and we are only speaking about figures from Spain, we don’t want to even imagine how high can it be worldwide…

This weekend takes place the Grand Prix of Europe in Valencia so we’re taking a closer look to this F1-fever.

There are two big events in our country relating to F1, Gran Premio de España Santander at Montmeló (near Barcelona) and Grand Prix of Europe in Valencia.

Valencia is ready for the big affluence of public, as they are expecting more than 80.000 visitors.

The circuit utilizes the roads skirting around the city’s harbour and America’s Cup port area – including a section over a 140-metre-long swing bridge, and also includes some roads designed exclusively for racing purposes.

We recommend you to use the ocassion to visit Valencia as we did (check this post)

Current top10

We can see a hard-fought podium up there, between our Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Hamilton (McLaren) and Vettel (Red Bull).

With all due caution, it is quite obvious who is gonna win:

What is quite obvious is who we support ;). We love Fernando Alonso for several reasons: He is the youngest Formula One World Drivers’ Champion. He comes from Asturias, awesome part of our country. And he dubbed into spanish one character from Cars, the movie. Lovely.

Whatever excuse is good to visit Spain!

i was an f1 intervention marshal in the UAE for the past couple of years. It’s quite a sport! very fast, very glamorous. The noise and the speed makes your insides tremble, literally! 😀

It was fun marshaling… but I don’t think I’ll do it again.

Would have loved to be there today. What a race! Couldn’t believe when Hamilton got knocked out (kinda literally) in the 56th lap.

Gotta try and get down there next year 🙂
